Passover 4 is Part four of the continuing series:
"What Is Passover All About"
If you have not already done so:
Many believers think that Passover is irrelevant today because of their lack of knowledge, of the keeping of the Holy Days by believers in the "New Testament" of the Bible. Some even go so far as to say that the "LAW" is done away. Is It? Let's see what Yahshua (Jesus) said about that.
Mat_5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat_5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
As we have stated earlier in this series Yahshua kept the Holy Days of Yahweh given to the Israelites in the "Old Testament". He kept these days with His parents from a youth.
Luk 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
Luk 2:41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover.
Luk 2:42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
As an adult in the height of His ministry He also kept the Passover.
Matt 26:17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the Passover?
Matt 26:19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover.
Luke 22:7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed.
Luke 22:8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the Passover, that we may eat.
And As we have also stated earlier in this series--Yahshua (Jesus) was/is the SACRIFICIAL LAMB OF YAHWEH!!!
Joh_1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Joh_1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
Mat_26:2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the Passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev_15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
Rev_17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 7:9-17, Revelation 12:11, Revelation 14:1-10,
Revelation 21:9-27, Revelation 22:1-3
As we continue to look to Yahshua as the example we follow, let's look at what He taught His disciples to do and what He set in place for us to do as Believers.
Mat 26:19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover.
Matt 26:20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
Matt 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
Matt 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
Matt 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Matt 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
Matt 26:30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
Mark 14:22-26 and Luke 22:15-20
John 13:1 Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
John 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
John 13:5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
John 13:6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
John 13:7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
John 13:9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
John 13:10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
John 13:11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
John 13:12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
John 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
John 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
John 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
These were the last ceremonies that were implemented by Yahshua for Believers to add to the Passover celebration. The added ceremony--taking the bread and wine (symbolizing Yahshua's blood covenant with us) and the foot washing was done the evening before His crucifixion.
This sealed the fact that He was the Passover Lamb.
Now what about the Resurrection? Does the Resurrection have any place in the celebration of Passover? Remember the wave sheaf offering. This was the day that signified the first fruits of the harvest being presented to Yahweh. Yahshua The Messiah is considered the First Fruits of the spiritual harvest of mankind.
1Cor 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
1Cor 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
On the first day of the week (Sunday) when Mary and others went to the tomb where Yahshua was laid he had already risen from the dead.
John 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
John 20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Yahshua was the wave sheaf offering presented to the Father on the morrow after the Sabbath. As you can see He fulfilled the law as He came to do.
As we close (Passover 4) you can see Pesach is extremely relevant for Believers today. We should celebrate Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread and His Resurrection in honor of Him and what He has done for us.
End of Passover 4
