Why is holiness so important to God?
In Part one we discussed that it comes from God, and He commands us to be that way, just as He is.
(If you have not read the first part of this series I strongly suggest that you stop here and go to the first article on this topic. You will not want to miss any part of this important subject).
Let's answer the why by looking at God's Word:
Genesis 1:26-27 tells us that man was made in the image of God and in his likeness. When you read about God and think about his nature you know that he is NOT unclean, there is NO moral corruption to be found in Him or anywhere near Him, He does NOT Lie, He's NOT hateful, greedy, deceitful, NO wickedness can be found in Him or anyone near Him. He is perfection, He is love.
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways (Psalm 119:1,3).
Anyone who calls themselves a child of God must reflect the attributes of their Father.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light, as God. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light is namely, all holiness, righteousness and truth (verse 8-9).
You want to be close to Him, you want the glorious inheritance that he has for you, you want to see him and spend eternity with Him!
The apostle Peter puts it so beautifully in his letter:
"Blessed be the God and Father of the Lord Yahshua Messiah, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Yahshua Messiah from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you," (I Peter 1:1-4).
As His child, you must reflect him in every way possible. You cannot receive all of these blessings living your life in ways that would cause you NOT to be recognized as His child. Any earthly father that truly wants the best for his children is going to want them to reflect his good side. He will give them instructions and guidance while nurturing them and he expects them to follow his lead and be successful in their lives.
In Paradise, where the righteous will go, there's a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal proceeding out of the throne of God and of the lamb...and they shall see his face, and his name shall be in their foreheads. (Read Revelation 22:1-4)
Follow peace with all men; and holiness, without which no one will see God.((Hebrews 12:14)
1. You are made in God's image and his likeness so therefore, you must reflect him in everything you do. (Gen. 2:25; Eph. 5:1-5,8-9)
2. You have a wonderful inheritance that is reserved in heaven for you that's undefiled. You must be holy to receive it! (I Peter 1:4)
3. You cannot see God without it! (Hebrews 12:14; Revelation 22:4)
From this article it's clear where holiness comes from, why we need it, and that it is possible for you in this life. Now, we will pose one last question:
1. The first step is salvation. You must accept the fact that Jesus died for you in order for you to be redeemed back to the Father and receive your inheritance which includes Eternal life. (Read the article "What is Salvation?")
2. Next, Stop SINNING!. Sin is the transgression of the laws of God (I John 3:4). Live your life according to the The Ten Commandments (Ex.20; Deuteronomy 5). Read The Ten Commandments Article
The wages of sin is death... (Romans 6:23). Death eternally is what you would receive as the fruits of a life of sin. No sin is too bad to be forgiven. So repent and live your life by the word of God, without sin. It's that simple!
This admonishment is also for those of you who do have God's Spirit and have been backsliding or compromising your character by not confessing your sins to God, who is faithful to forgive you, if you ask and repent.
...Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin; (Ezekiel. 18:30, last part)
Cast away from you all your transgressions, in which you have transgressed and prepare yourselves a new heart and a new spirit, for why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies, says Father Yahweh. Therefore, turn and live! (Ezekiel 18:31-32, YAHWEH Scriptures).
Therefore, put to death the evil passions lurking in your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passions, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness--which are idolatry.
Do you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of YAHWEH? Do not deceive yourselves. Neither fornicators, nor god worshipers, nor adulterers, nor men who commit sexual perversions with boys, nor men who commit sexual perversions with other men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers (use abusive language), nor extortioners (, will inherit the Kingdom of YAHWEH. (I Corinthians 6:9-10 YAHWEH Scriptures)
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the reverence of Yahweh (II Corinthians 7:1).
3. The next step is to receive a part of God (His Spirit) in you. Which will sanctify you--set you apart for God and make you His child. Ask Him for it (Luke 11:13).
So, then they that are in the flesh (carnal) cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God truly lives in you. Now if anybody does not have the Spirit of God dwelling in them then they are not His (Romans 8:8-9).
Then Peter said unto them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)
An if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead, is living in you, He who raised Yahshua (Jesus) from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies by His Spirit, which lives in you (Romans 8:11).
YAHWEH (God's) Spirit itself testifies with our spirit, that we are the children of God. (Romans 8:16)
And such were some of you. But now you are washed , now you are sanctified, now you are justified, in the name of Yahshua Messiah, and by the Spirit of our Father (I Corinthians 6:11 YAHWEH Scriptures).
4. Study the scriptures daily and apply them to your life. The Bible is the foundation of all knowledge and a daily study of it's scriptures will help you to stay on the right path, give you instruction in righteousness and provide you with the correction you need. A daily prayer life is important and should precede your bible study. If applied to your life the scriptures can help you to do good works. (II Timothy 3:16-17)

5. Finally, do all that is necessary to Live a Holy life consistently and live! Read and follow Ezekiel 18:5-9. Here is verse 9 for emphasis:
If he has walked in My statutes, and has kept My judgments, to do them--he is just! He will surely live! says Father Yahweh (God).
Therefore be you followers of God, like dear children, and walk in love, as the Messiah has also loved us and has given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God as a sweet-smelling aroma. But Fornication; and all uncleanness or covetousness, let this not once be named among you, as is fitting for believers; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor vulgar jesting, which are not proper. Instead let there be giving of thanks (Eph. 5:1-4).
No one is better than anyone else. Nor are we to judge anyone else's life. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). But praises be to God our Father who made a way for us to be forgiven and become His children which makes us Holy through Jesus Christ our Lord. Read Isaiah 53:1-12 the whole chapter!
If you follow all of these steps prayerfully, you will be on your way to living a fruitful, happy life and one that reflects the attributes of God. You will find that holiness is possible for you in this life! For further teaching on this subject click on the video links below.
